Oct 07, this guy wants to hire me my friend who is a 20 year Arborist to cut a tree in half. personally i think it's weird. the tree is perfectly healthy but the home owner says it's too tall(50 feet). he wants us to climb up into the tree and cut from the top down about 20 feet.
A palm tree is really heavy and even its fronds can cause damage when they fall.
have any of you guys ever done this? wouldent it look weird with a flat stump left on the top? please chime in thanks.
Apr 20, Place a tripod ladder close to the trunk, and secure it to the proper way trim rose bush with a sturdy rope. Your first cut will be at the bottom of the top segment. Saw at a downward, degree angle. Cut in. Jun 01, I cut this tree last fall and it fell and got wedged.
This is how I cut it down. Mar 30, Start with sawing off the middle of the hinge so that two corners are saved.

Then cut off the corner on the opposite side from the direction in which you intend to roll down the tree. Cut this corner with repeated saw cuts diagonally from above. Make sure to leave the corner on the same side that you intend to roll down the tree. Mar 15, Cut #1, Notch Cut: Cut a small notch in the bottom of the limb, feet away from the trunk, and about a quarter of the way through.
This notch will keep the bark from splitting when you make the next cut. Cut #2, Relief Cut: Just outside the notch, make a relief cut completely through the branch. This removes the weight of the branch, so that you can make your final cut without the branch.
